“Now, most Arakan people know less about Arakan history. After they come to Thailand, they start to have a chance to study Arakan history and language.”

Maung Maung Thet is from the Arakan state in Myanmar, but currently lives in Mae Sot, Thailand. He volunteers for Arakan Generation Youths Organization (AGYO) in Mae Sot and is passionate about preserving Arakan culture. Maung Maung Thet’s story is one of many that explain the flow of migrants from Myanmar to Thailand.
